Journey Today

April 2. Sunday Night.

Hi Journey.

Eddie well knows I'll say yes to any offer to go out for a steak, especially at Big Mike's. That woman and her chefs know exactly how to grill a steak--and treat a girl--right.

So that's where we went on Saturday night. Worked in the shop all day, reviewing the proposals we put together for the Brentwood sisters--Mrs. Dr. Ruice and her sister. The numbers look good, but the timeline's a bit squished together for a springtime remodel job. But, right now with the housing market cooling down some of the “new-only” subcontractors are starting to sniff around for some smaller jobs in the remodel space that we work in. That should drive the price down, but it means a bit more damage-control on our end. Several of those painters and carpet layers and finish carpenters are only used to working with other guys out in a new subdivision and need a chaperone when it comes to playing nice with my female clients.

Eddie and I rode around in his F150 pickup for half an hour. Looks like he's worked out most of the bugs; at least he hopes he has. I love riding up high and peeking down at what goes on in people's cars. In the Corolla I'm always cruising eye-level with the other cars in the pack.

I try not to stare, Journey, but people do the oddest things in their cars: drinking, cruising, surfing their radio, putting on makeup, wiping off makeup, passing around cigarettes--and a few things I don't want to mention.

After a nice filet mignon he finally came up for coffee and a little snuggling. That was it, though, Journey. Eddie freezes up at a certain point during intimacy. So we settle with snuggling. I'm OK with that, for now. But it has been a few months, Journey.

We're trying out a new show that Brady and Joni watch quite a bit: Law and Order, Criminal Intent. I recorded several episodes. Journey, you know I hardly watch TV, but this show's starting to grow on me.

Casey's
Cool Facts

We didn't talk about the website for Crystal Designs. OK, maybe we talked about it a little. I told him I was over the initial shock of his sandbagging me as to his true intentions the past few weeks, and was actually grateful for all the help. But by One O'clock Goren was well on his way to sniffing out the murderer in the evening's third case, and Eames had just delivered her tenth snappy one-liner, but Eddie was falling asleep and his head was getting heavy as it rested against my shoulder. Not a bad Saturday night, actually.

Today I finally got around to unpacking my little rollaboard. It's been parked just inside the front door of the apartment since I got back from New York . When the boyfriend almost trips over it on the way in, you know it's time to park it back in the closet.
