April 27. Thursday Night. Hi Journey. Korova's. It's rather nice there when I'm mingling. I can almost feel a bit like Dad did at his networking soirees all those years ago. Bridgette was MIA again; but she gave me a whole 24 hours notice. She's off to Salt Lake for a meeting with a couple of her biggest printing customers. She hinted she'll be ready to come in for a Snapshot session sometime in early June. I've a feeling I had better pencil her in and then have another project to while away on as a back-up—with her travel schedule it may be hard to pin her down. Yes, Tony Dastan from SeaGuard Insurance was there again. I think he's lost a little weight since last month; or maybe he's wearing different glasses. Something is just a little more crisp about him; it could be the pants or possibly a haircut? Can't tell, but he tonight he looked a little like he could be a model for a cologne ad; or maybe a Tag Heuer watch. He looks a bit edgy. I like it. “New girl in your life?” I asked as I walked up to him. I tried to be casual, but I felt my heart beat just a bit faster. “Yeah; just met last month. Runner-entrepreneur type; very driven—the kind of girl who thinks she knows what she wants and charges hard after it.” “Those are the worst.” I said dryly. “Especially when they're toting about a stack of invites to some party. May I have a look?” |

I handed him an invitation. Mary Robertson did a fantastic job turning them around in a day. She used a stylized Golden Gate Bridge motif; the bridge looked like it was sheathed in dew, with little rainbow sprinkles flitting about the surface. Joni had them printed on a high-end color copier; still not quite as good as regular printing but we were under the gun. “Open house next month; and at the Crowne Plaza , no less. Nice.” He read from the card: “Crystal Designs invites you to discover the newest design concepts for the next decade: Crossing the bridge between Home and Office'—sounds like a construction party. Do we all get to wear hard hats?” “You'll need one, with smart aleck comments like that.” |
