Journey Today

January 12. Thursday Night.

Hi Journey.

Four sessions today is a bit much. I can get by on less sleep five nights a week, but not five nights in row. Forgot how draining it can be listening and giving feedback all day can be.

But Judy Dodgson was session four, and she is turning into a pure joy.

Session two was Mrs. Moyen. He mother was in for Christmas, and loves the new bathroom layout, and especially enjoys having her own place to put on make-up. After all, a girl's still a girl, even at 84.

Mrs. M's next project is a backyard swimming pool. I was quite upfront with her and told her she'd be my first.

“That's ok, honey. It'll be my first outdoor pool. I always thought it was a bit show-offy, but then I started thinking about the size of house we live in and I figured, why not?” She bit on opposite corners of her Tim Tam, but stopped short of slamming her coffee through it.

I did my best not to choke on my own coffee. They have a Bentley; nothing ostentatious about that. I simply nodded, and let her roll on.

“One must remember the legends of myth. Vanity temporal can mean infamy immortal. A glance at Cassiopeia's position in the heavens tells us that. But that's what I like about you, Crystal. You subordinate your beauty to your brains. It's the same with my pool. I don't want anything gaudy. But I do think it might be nice if we put up a berm all the way around, and instead of a chain-link fence we create something with brick and wrought iron.”

“We'll have to bring in an architect who specializes in pools. How soon are you looking at having the pool ready?”

“By the Fourth of July.”

My mind pinwheeled through dates and prices and possible connections. “I hope we can get it done that quickly.”

“You will, Ms. Trino. I know you will.”

“How's that?” I asked.
