Journey Today

January 29 Sunday Night.

Hi Journey.

All in all it's not felt like a real Sunday today. Yes, I taught the kids, but then instead of just going in to office to work this afternoon I actually squeezed in a pair of Tea Times. I don't mind grinding through paperwork and plans on Sunday afternoon, but I rarely meet with clients, either offsite or on. But, with just a couple more days until I fly to San Francisco , I needed the extra face-to-face time.

My Two O'clock was a bit tense. That's rare at Tea Time, but it does happen. Last year Mrs. Dilse insisted we work three skylights into her new Great Room. I love light, but with a skylight it seems there's a fifty-fifty chance you're going to experience a leakage if the snow and ice collects up there for an appreciable length of time.

I've learned to warn clients about pitfalls up front, and not try to candy-coat potential problems; even when they don't want to hear about them.

Actually, especially when hey don't want to hear about them.

Of course Mrs. Dilse's skylight leaked during that snowstorm that blustered through early last month. Fortunately, no carpet was ruined, and it's been tinder-dry since. However, she'll need to have it attended to come spring. She was only a tad whiny about it.

But as we sat in Tethered Helium she kept scooting the chair in between us fully up against the lip of the table. I slid it out once, she countered by unconsciously pushing it back in with the side of her foot during a particularly excited moment as she mimicked her daughter's breaststroke while telling me how her daughter had won the swim meet that past weekend.

I caved, and left the chair flush against the table.

Uneventful Saturday. Slept in, ran, and then put in three hours reviewing a pile of quotes from contractors that had stacked up during the week. Eddie and I ventured out long enough to see the new King Kong . I loved PJ's version, but it's hard to beat Fay Wray. Typical guy; Eddie was much more interested in the chase than the love story.

Nothing much else new, J. Alley was quiet yesterday and today. I'm going to pack my bags in a little while. I've been wetting-my-pants-wanting to pack all month and get on that bird, but I've been disciplined and waited. No longer.

Wish I could think of something special to bring out to Mattie.

Goodnight, Journey.
