November 8. Tuesday Night. Hi Journey. I knew today was going to be long when it seemed every electrical appliance I touched went haywire. It originated in my office. Went in first thing as usual and wham!—the light blows out as soon as I flicked the switch. OK, no problem; I can get my hands dirty. I simply lug over a chair to unscrew the bulb; but of course the leg of the chair snagged the cord on the ten-key that rests on the corner of my desk. Next thing I know the calculator crashes to the floor…about one second after the bulb slips out of my hands and barrages the carpet of my office with a thousand glass shrapnel shards. Thank the Lord for people like Joni who come to my rescue without saying one deriding comment. (She did shake her head as if to say tsk, tsk, but that's forgivable). Had been Shelly, I'd be in for a heckling all week. And of course, the computer virus has savaged us again. Rang up Brady and asked him to come over. And yes, I stayed calm. When the techno-goblins are a-spooking about, one never excoriates the exorcist. Brady thinks it'll run about $500 to fix the system. Guess the only thing to do is tighten the belt a bit more on something else. Probably we'll put off that new awning we've discussed installing above the front entrance. Work uneventful. No new clients, no new crises. Everybody was nose to the grindstone today. That's the way it typically is, early in the week. Minimal small talk seems like everybody is focused on completing last week's leftover tasks and handling any new client needs. |

It's generally a decent day for creativity. People seem less stressed on Tuesday, a little less task-oriented and a bit more open to ideas. Plus, they'll talk about things longer in meetings since they don't have the weight of last week's catch-up tasks tugging at their internal time-clocks. That's why I never call Bloom Team marketing meetings on Mondays, unless there's some serious need for damage control from the weekend. No Bloom Team meeting today, J. I'll puke if I hear another word about selling paint. | |||||||
