Journey Today

October 2. Sunday Night.

Hi Journey.

Pretty decent weekend. Worked inside the shop. Seems I always fall furthest behind when the weather is the sweetest. Entrepreneur's karma. Mid seventies all day Saturday and Sunday, with just the slightest kiss of a breeze. Back-to-back days like that rarely grace the Midwest in the fall, let alone on a weekend.

Nothing like a Friday computer crash to tether me to the store all weekend. This was before I learned about Mattie. At least I was the only one that lost any data. Dana and Vivian were out calling on clients; Shelly booked out early to drive back to her hometown for a prenup dinner. I think she's either the third or fourth bridesmaid…hardly seems worth the cost of the dress.

Joni was at the post office to pick up the mail. Late in the day for it, but she'd been grueling through a new small business accounting software package install most all the morning. Either QuickBooks or NetSuite; I can't remember which one. I leave Operations decisions like that up to her. Besides, she's the one has to live with it.

Of course, my gut reaction when the system went down was to blame Joni and her new accounting software. Thank the Lord above she wasn't close at hand. I sure see why they call the mouth a trap; I open it at the wrong time and I'm the one who gets snared by my own angry words.

One call to Brady over at Clover Computer Quickfix and he had me rebooted in a shade over an hour. Rebooted, but alas, not retrieved. Seems the problem was confined to my compute. Great for everybody else, but dummy Crystal had only saved her work locally, on her machine instead of stashing it on the server the way Brady's always reminding me to.

Brady's done a stellar job building my PCs and our network. I believe he has a couple of Electrical Engineering grad students working for him part time, but he always services our shop personally. I'd like to think it's my great personality but I've a feeling he comes to grab a glimpse of Dana's chest and snag a friendly smile from Vivian.
